Inaugural session

Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2024 was organized on 29.07.2024 on the occasion of fourth anniversary of announcement of National Education Policy 2020. Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Hon’ble MoS for Education and Development of North Eastern Region and Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble MoS (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and MoS for Education graced the event with their presence in the inaugural session.

On this occasion, several NEP initiatives related to School and Higher Education were launched, during the day-long program; more than 1,200 participants attended the inaugural session and thematic sessions organized topics related to school and higher education.

A presentation on ‘Credit Accumulation and Seamless Creditization of all types of Learning including Skilling by using Platform of APAAR ID’’ was delivered during the inaugural session. The NEP initiatives related to school education launched during the event included 10 bagless days guidelines, career guidance guidelines, dedicated TV channel to facilitate learning of various Indian languages, primer for early grader in 25 Indian languages, National Mission for Mentoring (NMM) & National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST) in braille & audio books and School Innovation Marathon 2024. With respect to higher education, Graduation Attributes and Professional Competencies, IKS Samvada Sangraha, Lecture Notes from IKS Faculty Development Programs, Three IKS books (Kautilya's Arthashastra: Timeless strategies for modern governance, Marma Kannadi and Shodha Vijaya) and a State of the Industry Report on Indian Knowledge Systems & Heritage were launched during the program.

After the inaugural session, 6 thematic sessions on topics related to school & higher education were organized with panelists from diverse backgrounds. Thematic sessions were on ‘Importance of Sustainability in Education Curriculum, Job Prospects, Industry-academia Collaboration’, ‘PM SHRI (School Education & Skilling)’, ‘Role of HEIs in promoting STEM & enhancing GER through Vidyashakti’, ‘Equivalence of Curriculum and Assessment across all School Boards’, ‘Role of Ranking and Accreditation in Enhancing Quality’ and ‘NCF-FS and NCF-SE Salient Features and Implementation Roadmap’.

In the ABSS 2024, deliberations also took place on themes with reference to assessment of ‘Future of Work’ job requirements in the wake of fast-paced changes in the society led and coordinated by pan-India HEIs in the next one year towards journey to become a 5 trillion economy and Viksit Bharat @ 2047. MoE has identified 8 Sector-Specific Groups (SSGs) based on their relevance to the changing world such as Agriculture (led by IIT Ropar), Health & Bio-electronics(led by IIT Madras), Banking, Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI) (led by IIM Bangalore), Energy (led by IIT Delhi) , Logistics (led by IIM Mumbai), Digital & Creative Economy (led by IIT Bombay), AI in Engineering (led by IISc Bangalore) and Manufacturing & Industry 4.0 (led by IIT Madras) to identify the emerging needs of the respective sectors and to facilitate corresponding upgrades in academic and the corresponding capacity building programs.

State Education Secretaries, State Program Directors of SSA & RUSA, SCERT Directors, Students from KV, JNV, CBSE schools, Colleges / Universities, Regional Officers, School Principals and teachers; VCs of Central Universities, State Universities, Private Universities and Deemed to be Universities, Directors from IITs, IIITs, NITs, IISERs, IISc, IIMs, SPAs, NITTTRs, other CFTIs, Experts from Industries, Officers of DoSEL, DoHE, NCERT, CBSE, UGC, AICTE, NETF, NIEPA, Officials from other Ministries participated in the program
