Recently, MHRD has decided to increase the tuition fee for IIT students from 90,000 to 2 lacs per year. Since the decision has been taken by the Standing Committee of the IIT Council (SCIC) and MHRD after discussions, I would like to point out for certain clarification regarding the issue.\n\n1. What are the financial numbers that lead MHRD to hike the fees by the given amount . What are the convincing reason to increase the amount by such large percentage .\n2. How will be the extra fees paid by the students contribute towards the funds at IIT and what will be the impact of the fees paid toward the funds available with IITs.\n3. Will the scholarships paid to the students be increase in the same proportion as of the fee hike and will be granted from the coming academic session onward. If no, why .\n4. Had been the social consequences of the fee rise considered and well studies before the implementation. If yes what were the results/conclusion regarding the students those you want to go for higher study just after completing their degree from IIT, time in which he will be able to pay the loan and its consequences on his living standards. If No such things where discussed, Why is the fee hike implemented in such a hurry \n5. Why only the fees of IITs have been increased, but not for other institutes.\nPlease answer the above separately.
