I am research scholar at IIT Kharagpur, coming under institute category.\nOther categories of scholars like sponsored, scholars of pure science get contingency money but institute scholars are not given any contingency money. During a visit by MHRD in 2013, it was informed to us that a contingency fund is allocated for institute category research scholars also, which can be availed from the respective department through the permission of Head of the department. But we are not getting any contingency money. Please let me know, if institute scholars are eligible for contingency money. If yes, how much amount is allotted to them annually\n\nAnother issue regarding HRA is also there. Please let me know if research scholars who are staying in hostel and paying hostel as well as mess fees are eligible to get HRA. If yes, please specify the amount of money we are eligible.
