Eligibility i. Japanese Language:
a) Students who are enrolled in the Post Graduate Degree course in Japanese Language from a recognized university.
b) Students who have completed undergraduate Degree Course in Japanese Language from a recognized university.
c) Students who have completed undergraduate degree course in any subject from recognized university with 50% or above marks and who have completed Level 2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) conducted by Japan Foundation and have competed at least 3 years of Japanese Language study from a recognized university/institute in India.
ii. Japanese Studies:
Master Degree in the relevant field with minimum 60% marks.
iii. For Research Studies (Ph.D)
(a) Masters Degree in the relevant field with minimum 60% marks. Candidate having practical research/ teaching / work experience after obtaining the prescribed qualification as on 30 - 05- 2008 would be preferred.
(b) Students who have bachelor's degree in science or arts or engineering and have completed 15 years or 16 years curriculum (i.e. 12+3 or 12+4) are also eligible for the Research Students Scholarship of the Japanese government provided that they have minimum 60% marks.
Age Below 35 years.
Value Maintenance allowance to be paid by Government of Japan which covers study allowance, fee, part payment of medical expenses, accommodation etc.
Passage Cost Return air ticket is provided by the Japanese Government.
Application Procedure Typed application with attested copies of testimonials, photograph, programme of study/research and other documents may be submitted on plain paper (as per notified format) by prescribed date. Employed candidates are required to send applications through their employers with NOC.
