To, The P.I.O MHRD, Department of Higher Education Shastri Bhawan, C wing, Dr. Rajendra Prasad road New Delhi-110001, India 23.08.15 Sir, Sub: Seeking information under the RTI Act, 2005 I Akash Agrawal, son of Shri Shailendra Kr. Agrawal, wish to seek information as under. This is regarding admission to Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and NITs through Joint seat allocation authority (JoSAA) 2015. 1) I wish to know what is the number of candidates who did not report finally to the allocated IIT, after accepting the seat by paying Rs 45,000, during the seat allocation. 2) Thus what is the no. of vacant seats in the IITs after JoSAA 2015 and the details of the vacant seats stating: a)Name of the IIT b) Program name c) Category wise distribution of the vacant seats for the program. 3)I wish to know what will be done to such vacant seats and the loss in Rs. Incurred by the government if all such seats go vacant. 4) I also wish to know why a seat allocation round for such vacant IIT seats is not being conducted on the lines of CSAB special counselling for filling vacant NIT institute seats. 5) I was allocated an NIT through JoSAA 2015, and I accepted the seat by paying the seat acceptance fee of Rs.45, 000.But I withdrew my admission by not reporting at the allocated NIT. When will the seat acceptance fee be refunded, as the seats have been filled through CSAB counselling 6) Why have I been declared ineligible for the JEE Advanced 2016 as per the JoSAA business rules (27 June 15) page no.30 XVII clause 59, even when I have neither taken admission into an NIT or an IIT Just for reporting to accept the allocated NIT, how can I be debarred from giving JEE Advanced next year which is for IITs Even the seat which I left has been filled by CSAB, so such candidates should be declared eligible for JEE Advanced 2016. MHRD should kindly intervene into the issues stated and provide the information seeked. Yours Sincerely Akash Agrawal JEE main 2015 roll no.15902743 JEE advanced 2015 roll no. 2029160 |

I, Govind Shah , was allotted a seat at BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY , MESRA by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2015 to pursue my degree of Bachelor of Engineering at the institute. Later, a sub-division of JoSAA, that is the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) allotted me a new seat in Indian Institute of Information Technology, Srirangam to continue the course. Since both the counselings were open to all, any student could attend the counseling for allotment to a more preferable college/branch of his/her choice. The BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, MESRA deducted an amount of INR 43600 (40% of the fee taken by the institute as first semester tuition fees) against the WITHDRAWAL of my admission at the institute. Since the Institute is a GOVERNMENT FUNDED TECHNICAL INSTITUTE, I would like to know under which norms did the Institute deduct such a large amount of compensation amount from the student. Also, the institute should make a statement about the utilization of the sum of the money deducted by the institute. I would also like to state here that the new institute allotted to me was allotted by the same counseling procedure i earlier used to take admission at BIT MESRA, therefore, since a seat is allotted in a subsequent round of counseling, deduction of fees by the institute is baseless. ATTACHED: The fee refund circular issued by BIT MESRA, stating clearly that 40% of the fee will be deducted, making the institute liable to pay only 60% of the complete fees. |
